SHS - Wellness Resource Center
Welcome to the KU's Wellness Resource Center!
We strive to serve as the source for the KU community wellness through parternships
that create and support innovative approached for achiving optimal health, and
maximizing academic and professional success.
It is important for us to realize that the choices we make (or allow others to make for us)
impact us for the rest of our lives. Making healthy choices is a life long privilege.
The Wellness Resource Center is at your service to provide you with information and
support in making informed decisions about your health and wellness. You are born with
one body and given the ultimate responsibility of maintaining and taking care of it.
You can accomplish this by starting now to make healthy, informed choices when it comes
to nutrition, fitness, alcohol and drug use, and sexual behavior (KU 101: Learning and
Growing Within Our KU Community).
We focus on health and wellness promotion and offer individual consultations and support
in the areas of:
- sexual and reproductive health
- substance use and abuse
- sexual assault
- stress management
- self esteem
- HIV/AIDS education
- sexually transmitted diseases
- smoking cessation
- eating disorders
- and nutrition
Training
The Department also offers CPR and First Aid training,
and Certified Peer Educator(CPE) training to
the University community for a nominal fee. A Resource Center comprised of brochures and videos
on a wide range of health-related topics is also available to the University community.
Health Presentations
We have a variety of presentations available. Please see Available Education
(in the right sidebar) for a listing of these
presentations and their objectives. We ask that you submit your presentation
request two weeks ahead of time to ensure availability of a peer or health educator.
In addition, it also allows time for any alterations needed to customize the presentation
for your specific needs.
